We’re set to have the official reveal of Bungie’s newest franchise, Destiny, in a few days time, but it a few leaks has meant that a bits of information are out in the open already.
According to a listening at French retailer Micromania we have a release date, boxart and a blurb for the title.
“Everything changed with the arrival of Traveler,” reads the blurb having been spat through Google translate. “It sparked a Golden Age when our civilization spanned the solar system, but it didn’t last. Something hit us, knocked us down. The survivors built a city beneath the Traveler, and have begun to explore our old worlds, only to find them filled with deadly foes.
“You are a Guardian of the last safe city on Earth, able to wield incredible power. Defend the City. Defeat our enemies. Reclaim all that we have lost.”
There’s still an expectation that Destiny will be a cross-generation title, with releases on the PlayStation 4 and next Xbox as well as the current duo. For now though, it seems that both an Xbox 360 version and PlayStation 3 version are set for release – on October 6 if Micromania are to be believed.
Elsewhere, some promotion posters have leaked from GameStop, picked up by Joystiq, which points out that Destiny is “a shooter that redefines the genre and breaks with conventions” and offers a solo campaign and “competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes”; whilst a strong focus that it is from “the creators of Halo” as well.
Whilst Destructoid have photos of Destiny fliers and pre-order cards which specifically list both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation as the release platforms.
