Here’s a bit of a new trend for you. Agatsuma Entertainment’s Code of Princess – a game that I’d suspect is an ode to the Sega Saturn classic Guardian Heroes, is coming to European 3DS’ as a downloadable only game as opposed to the boxed formats it has seen in the US and Japan.

The trailer showcases some of the gameplay which channels quite a few of the key RPG/Hack’n’Slash Side-scrolling Beat-em-up mechanics, alongside the cooperative mode. A quick look around about the development of this title reveals that the suspicion that Guardian Heroes was an influence is not exactly far off the mark as Guardian Heroes’ director and character designer Tetsuhiko Kikuchi and lead programmer Masaki Ukyo are also on board with this particular game.

Now I have to say I have a bit of a soft spot for Guardian Heroes, so I am pretty excited for this. According to the Nintendo Direct earlier today, Code of Princess will be making its way onto the platform sometime in the Spring to the Nintendo 3DS eShop, so we don’t have long to wait with any luck.
