When Dead Space 3 was first demoed at E3 it didn’t receive the warmest of welcome. The argument was that the series was losing its horror element in favour of more action-oriented co-op gameplay. And although I can’t say one way or another until I get my hands on the title next February this new trailer from Gamescom does somewhat eliviate my concerns.

Granted, there’s still lots of explosions, set-pieces and action-bits, but Dead Space 2 had all of those and maintained a simple terrifying atmosphere.

So as a result, I remain hopeful. Hopeful that when I┬átake Isaac Clarke to the graveyard of long-dead ships that orbits around the ice planet of Tau Volantis, I’m scare witless once again.
