Sony has detailed the Cross-Compatibility functionality between the PlayStation 3 and the Vita.
First up Cross-Play. “Play, race, fight or team up with other players on either PS Vita or PS3″, reads the press release, confirming that Hustle Kings, MotorStorm RC, WipEout HD /WipEout 2048, and Street Fighter X Tekken will feature this functionality.
Cross-Controller will use your PlayStation Vita controller as a controller for “selected” PS3 games creating “brand new ways to interact with certain PS3 games with a PS Vita in your hands”. The only two compatible games confirmed so far are Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and LittleBigPlanet 2.
Being able to Cross-Save games across the two platforms enables users to continue playing their game on the go on PS Vita, right from where they left off on their PS3 at home. Blazblue Continuum Shift Extend, MLB12: The Show, MotorStorm RC, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, Sound Shapes and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale are all confirmed so far.
Cross-Goods will allow players to share items between PS Vita and PS3 with Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, MLB12: The Show, Hustle Kings, MotorStorm RC, ModNation Racers/ModNation Racers: Road Trip, Street Fighter X Tekken, Assassin’s Creed 3/Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation, Sound Shapes, LittleBigPlanet 2 and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale are all confirmed to support this feature.
As for Remote Play, which allows PS Vita users to remotely access their PS3, ICO, God of War, God of War II and Shadow of the Colossus have all been confirmed.
