Capcom have released a brand new CGI trailer announcing Lost Planet 3. The game will serve as a sequel to 2010’s Lost Planet 2, a game that has reportedly sold 1.5 million copies worldwide.
The third-person shooter franchise has been an important one for Capcom since Lost Planet: Extreme Condition was released in Japan six years ago, and so the announcement of a sequel isn’t a massive surprise.
There are few details about the upcoming game as of yet outside of the leaked trailer, but the snowy environment featured in the CGI teaser seems to suggest an arctic environment for the game.
The biggest surprise is that the game is being developed by Spark Unlimited (Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, Legendary) rather than in-house at Capcom. No real release date was confirmed, but the trailer did state that the game will be available next year on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. As for what to expect, Lost Planet 2 received mixed scores from critics, with the ultimate consensus being that the game was a fairly disappointing addition to the franchise, with a few occasional redeeming qualities.
