Robert Bowling has resigned from his position at Activision and as Creative Strategist for the Call of Duty franchise, according to his personal Twitter profile. While Twitter is not always the best place to derive news sources from this news in particular comes straight from the fingertips of the now former ‘lead of Infinity Ward’, who leaves behind him a position which will be mightily hard to refill.
“Today, I resign from my position as Creative Strategist of Call of Duty, as a lead of Infinity Ward, and as an employee of Activision.” Word for word, that’s the tweet in question and it reads somewhat forebodingly. While Infinity Ward have wished him well, the tone which Bowling takes will no doubt bring with it some speculation as to why the decision was made.

Further speculation will come about now too regarding where Bowling will wind up; perhaps he’ll join Respawn Entertainment and be reunited with former IW employees Vince Zampella and Jason West?
