As rumoured over the weekend, Major Nelson has confirmed that Microsoft are upping the number of Gamerscore points on Xbox LIVE Arcade titles.
Come of April 2012, developers will have the option to increase the points from 200 to 400, with the addition of up to 30 Achievements as well, but come June 2012 this increase will be mandatory.
Reports suggest that more freedom will be granted with DLC as well. Currently, the rules are for just 50 Gamerscore points and five Achievements per quarter, for a maximum of three quarters; however, the new rules are expected to see this jump to 100 Gamerscore points and eight Achievements per quarter, for a maximum of four quarters.
As a result, Xbox LIVE Arcade titles could see a big jump in total points, from 350 to 800 a games lifetime, as Achievements get a bump from 35 to 62.
