A purportedly leaked image has added some serious weight behind Assassin’s Creed III being set in the American Revolution.
The promotional image for Assassin’s Creed III show not only the likely protagonist for the next chapter in the hugely successful franchise, but a historical version of the US flag suggests that early rumours of an American Revolution setting were spot on.
Kotaku claim to have been sent the photo of the promotional image from a Best Buy employee, although we likely won’t have to wait for long, given that Ubisoft has revealed that they’ll be making a major announcement very soon.
Assassin’s Creed III will launch this October, and although platforms have yet to be announced, release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC are extremely likely, with a release on the Wii U also possible – but expect full confirmation in the coming days.
The Ubisoft title was also our seventh most anticipated game of 2012, despite knowing so little about the game at the time. I wonder how the news of an American Revolution setting changes the team’s perspective on the title.
