With the PlayStation Vita set to launch next week, the one thing that is missing from the launch lineup is a first-person shooter. However, we know a few are certainly on their way and come May we’ll have at least one as Sony has announced that Resistance: Burning Skies is set for release on May 30.
Dubbed as “the world’s first portable dual-analog FPS”, Burning Skies will take full advantage of the power of the Vita – using its front and rear touchscreen controls as well. Sony provided a quick reminder as to the plot of the latest Resistance portable:
Resistance: Burning Skies pulls you into an entirely new dimension of the Resistance universe. Set in a tale of survival during the August 1951 Chimeran invasion of the East Coast, you take control of Tom Riley, an everyday firefighter from New Jersey who is thrown headfirst into the teeth of the Chimeran war machine, forcing him to redefine his notions of duty and heroism.
The release date has already set in motion a second wave of strong Vita titles, which will hopefully continue strongly through the year.
