The market is plenty saturated with World War II shooters and the original Sniper Elite is one of a very cosy family of this gaming era. It did introduce things such as following the bullet, way before Fallout 3 or Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’s kill-cams did. While I much prefer sniping to normal shooting as it is a far greater test of timing and location, no game has quite gotten the feel for the concept figured out. Sniper Elite V2 hopes to change that.
Here’s the thing though. While the trailer says “Berlin 1945″, it is unclear whether it actually is a WW2 shooter or something far larger in scope. All we know is that it looks pretty good and it features X-Ray footage of bullets ripping through someone’s neck. If the first game is any indication though, it might be a third person shooter with sniping elements. It should be appearing on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 some time next year, so until then – here is a Nazi Commander getting shot!
