Square Enix Sue Deus Ex Hackers
Square Enix, publishers of Deus Ex Human Revolution, have filed a lawsuit against the people allegedly behind the leak of a preview build of Deus Ex.
The preview build was accessed and uploaded onto torrent sites in late May and contained early levels of the games.
Square Enix is taking 15 Italian nationals to court over the leak, and court filings show the hacking group is accused of accessing the servers where the demo was hosted and used login information of an Italian games magazine, GMC, although GMC itself isn’t implicated as evidence suggests the breach of the servers came from an IP address that was neither associated with the publication or the reviewer who was originally given access to the build.
Square Enix is claiming damages in excess of $5000 and that the theft constitutes copyright infringement.
Burn them all I say.
