EA has announced Dead Space: Ignition for the PSN and Xbox Live Marketplace.

The game will be a prequel to Dead Space 2 and is set for release this fall and it seems that it will be the first of many “extensions planned for the launch of Dead Space 2.”

Set “hours before engineer Isaac Clarke begins his adventure on “The Sprawl” in Dead Space 2 a Necromorph outbreak occurs. Players will witness the horror first-hand in an all-new downloadable game that takes place on the Sprawl and challenges players to survive the initial Necromorph outbreak.”

Combining an interactive comic-style store with three unique hacking games, each game offers a fun and satisfying arcade experience. Featuring a “Choose Your Own Adventure” type narrative, players will be able to act out one of four unique endings, each of which will see a reward of an exclusive suit in Dead Space 2.
