Nintendo E3: 3DS Announced

By David Howard, Editor-in-Chief and Founder

During their E3 press conference, Nintendo announced the successor for the DS, called the 3DS.

Stating that there is “nothing between you and the experience,” the handheld console will feature glasses-free 3D. The new system looks like the current DS with an additional analog stick above the D-pad on the left side. There is a 3D depth slider control on the side of the system, allowing players to choose exactly how much of the 3D effect they want. The upperscreen features a 3.5 widescreen, well screen, whilst the bottomscreen remains the only touchscreen. There are motion and gyro sensors, as well as two camera lenses to allow users to take and then view 3D photos. The 3DS can also communicate with other 3DS systems automatically, and supports wireless communication between systems regardless of the game.

Plenty of games were announced for the system including a new Kid Icarus title, Nintendos + cats, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Kingdom Hearts, Zelda, Mario and Golden Sun.
