Bioware has announced on it’s social network blog, that there a Mass Effect movie is set to be produced.
Legendary Pictures, the studio behind the massive hits of The Dark Knight, The Hangover, 300 and Watchmen have secured the rights to make the Mass Effect film. It will be produced with Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni along with Avi Arad (who has been behind great films like Iron Man, X-Men and Spider-Man) and Ray Muzyka (Bioware), Greg Zeschuck (Bioware) and Casey Hudson (Bioware) who will serve as executive producers.
“At BioWare, we’ve always thought of Mass Effect as having the depth, emotion and plot twists perfectly suited for an adaptation to a motion picture” said Casey Hudson, executive producer of the Mass Effect series. “With Avi Arad and Legendary attached, we believe that the Mass Effect movie will be an extraordinary entertainment event that realizes our vision for the franchise and thrills fans.”

I am not responsible for my actions if this film turns out crap. I hope Ray Muzyka, Greg Zeschuck and Casey Hudson make sure they stick to the game. If they do this right, it could become one of the greatest Sci-fi films but they need the right Shepard. There are so many moments of the game that could be so awesome and trnaslate really well into film. I hope they concentrate on the story too and not make it an action film. I find it quite hard to see how they will make such a story driven game fit into ,for example, a two and a half hour film especially as they have to develop the character relationships too.
If this is bad, all the hate will be directed your way :-p
I think just make it like Star Wars!
Depends on what Star Wars you mean. Or do you mean the whole saga thing?
And I think I can take the heat if it is bad
Star Wars as in the Universe it created.
Oh right. Mass Effect can do it for sure. Plenty of alien races, planets, etc. I think that if this movie does well, they will look to make it the new Star Wars. I can imagine a lot of action figures.

But the great thing about Mass Effect is the choice, and branching stories…
That doesn’t exactly translate well to screen.
Perhaps, but the Mass Effect universe, if done right, could be massive. It has the potential to be the next Star Wars…
